For many years, our Library has partnered with UMC Food Ministries to provide after-school snacks and summer meals to area youth through federally funded programs. These programs have very specific requirements for snack and meal distribution, including service times during weekdays and no service on weekends. Funds from private donations through The Library Foundation allow our Library to provide healthy snacks during the gaps of this federally funded service.
In 2024, 38,856 snacks were distributed at 31 library locations throughout Hamilton County thanks to funds provided through The Library Foundation. Nutritious snacks are available for youth who visit the Library for extended periods of time. These snacks help to have a positive impact on youth behavioral issues and help staff build strong relationships with kids.
To support this initiative, select “Snacks for Kids” as part of the Foundation’s Befriend a Branch program, 100% of these donations will be used to purchase healthy snacks for youth.

The Groesbeck Branch worked with Hollmeyers Orchard to provide apples as a healthy snack alternative for afterschool kids. Purchases like this are made possible thanks to the generosity of private donors.
