What time should I arrive?

• Doors will open at 6:30pm, with food, drinks and activities available on the first floor of the South Building.

Where do I enter?

• All guests should enter through the Vine Street entrance of the South Building. Registration tables will be at the entrance and each guest will need to give their name at check-in.

Is this event for all ages?

• No. Booked for the Evening is a 21+ event.

What should I wear?

• We want you to have fun exploring everything our Library has to offer, so dress comfortably and wear shoes you can easily walk in!

Where should I park?

• There are multiple parking options within a one-block radius of the Downtown Main Library, including parking garages, surface lots, and metered street spaces. A map with marked parking options is available online.  The Library is also a stop on the downtown streetcar which is free to ride.

Is valet parking available for this event?

• Yes, valet parking will be available for $10 per vehicle. The valet stand will be located on 9^th Street, close to the intersection with Vine Street (in between the Library South and North Buildings).

What if I need accessible parking?

I want to participate in a behind-the-scenes tour. Do I need to reserve my space ahead of time?

• No, advance reservations are not needed. You can sign up for a tour time upon your arrival. Tour spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed for all attendees.

How can I sign-up for a tour?

• Visit the Tour Starting Point once you arrive to select an available departure time. Look for the activity station located to the immediate right of the registration tables in the First Floor Atrium (South Building) with signage marked “Tours Begin Here.”
  
• You’ll receive a tour time sticker, which will serve as your reminder throughout the evening.
  
• Return to the Tour Starting Point at least 5 minutes before your scheduled departure and show your sticker to join your group.

I’m attending with friends. Can we be on the same tour?

• Yes. Just make sure everyone in your party receives a sticker with the same tour departure time.

How long is the tour?

• Tours will last approximately 30 minutes, depart every 5 minutes beginning at 7:30p, and can accommodate up to 10 guests per tour.

What if I miss my tour time?

• Please arrive at the designated meeting area 5 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Tours will begin promptly. If you miss your tour, we cannot guarantee placement on another tour, but we will try.

What if I don’t want a 30-minute guided tour but still want a peek behind the scenes?

• We will also be offering Express Access Experience to a portion of our closed-to-the-public stacks for exploration at your own pace. Librarians will be on hand to talk about CHPL’s collection and answer your questions.

What is the Express Access Experience?

• This option offers a flexible way to visit the Library’s closed stacks during the event without needing an assigned entry time.

Where does the Express Access Experience start?

• Express Access will begin in the same location as the behind-the-scenes tours. Look for the Tour Starting Point activity station located to the immediate right of the registration tables in the First Floor Atrium (South Building) with signage marked “Tours Begin Here.”
  

Where will food by located?

• Displayed and passed appetizers will be served on the 1^st floor beginning at 6:30p
• Build-your-own Soba Noodle bar will be located on the 2^nd floor beginning at 7:30p.
• For those looking for a sweet treat, an ice cream cart will be located in the 3^rd floor Tower Room beginning at 7:30p.

Will there be food available for those with dietary restrictions?

• Yes, dietary-friendly options, including vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free selections, will be available and clearly labeled.
